How To Install Flameshot

Introduction​

Flameshot is Greenshot like screenshot tool for Ubuntu that let you snip a portion of the screen and annotate or highlight the result, similar to Greenshot on Windows.

Install Procedure​

Step 1 - Install​

  • Execute the following command to install
sudo apt install flameshot

Step 2 - Run​

  • To run flameshot execute the command
flameshot gui

Assign Flameshot to Print Screen​

Step1 - Open Settings​

  • Press Super (Windows key) and search for "Settings".

Step 2 - Keyboard shortcuts​

  • Go to Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Scroll down and click "Customize Shortcuts".
  • Scroll to the bottom and click "+ Add Shortcut"

Fill in the dialog:

Name: Flameshot

Command: flameshot gui

Shortcut: Click Set Shortcut, then press the Print key

Step 3 - Test It​

  • Press the PrintScreen key — Flameshot should now appear with the crosshair for snipping.
