The Bate Hall is Macclesfield's oldest pub and it's absolutely packed with history and paranormal intrigue. As one of the UK's most haunted locations, it's easy to see why. The Jacobean staircase has marks from where witches were said to be hanged, and the old priest hole now contain a skull. It has so many amazing paranormal activity stories, from marks appearing and disappearing on the walls, to the hole in the woodwork that contains witches, and the ghost of a child named Billy who moves balls in the middle of the room. Visiting the pub was a fascinating experience and it's a truly unique pub. The pub was even featured on Britain's Most Haunted, and we can see why! The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly.
